Women on the Edge of Time

Personal insights and experiences related to the work: “Suffragettes Rising” depicts the rise in the number of women in the House of Representatives over the last 100 years since women first gained voting rights. While the suffragettes wore white, I frequently see women Members of Congress wearing striking, saturated colors that stand out in sharp contrast to the near-uniform grey suits of male Congressmen. The bright red rising from the bottom is drawn from a coat that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wore after an early confrontation with then-President Donald Trump.
